Walk along in the Diabetes Challenge, also possible if you do not (yet) have diabetes
Many colleagues at UU have sedentary jobs and say they would like to exercise more. The National Diabetes Challenge (NDC) is an exercise programme run by the Bas van de Goor Foundation. Participants walk once a week in their own neighbourhood for about 20 weeks. They are accompanied by a professional from the health, sports and/or welfare sector. In April 2024, the Challenge will start for the 10th time in a row to get people with diabetes or an increased risk of diabetes moving and working together on their health. Recent years have shown how successful this walking challenge is as a lifestyle intervention for people who need guidance to start moving more. Walking along can be done in Utrecht, Amersfoort, Nieuwegein, Hilversum and many other places.
